
Oakland County Roofs, Ramps, and Repairs Program
Oakland County has established a program to provide grants for minor home repairs to eligible households within areas of the Cities of Hazel Park, Oak Park, Southfield, Troy, and Royal Oak Township. The program is administered in partnership with McKenna. This is not an income-based program; qualification is determined by the location of the home. For more information, see the qualifying areas below.
The program offers a variety of home repairs, helping homeowners repair and replace roofs, heating systems, plumbing, water heaters, electrical hazards, improve accessibility, windows and doors, deck and porch repairs, kitchen and bath upgrades, and other home upgrades.
The program is not currently accepting any further applications. However, you may fill out the interest form below, and we will contact you if additional funds become available.
Qualifying Areas
Oakland County has established a program to provide grants for minor home repairs to eligible households within portions of the cities of Southfield, Oak Park, Hazel Park, Troy and Royal Oak Township - Click the buttons below to see if you live in a qualifying area.
A limited amount of grant money will be available and is distributed to eligible households based on the following guidelines:
The home must be a single family, owner-occupied dwelling.
The home must be located in one of the qualified areas (click buttons below).
The repair is estimated to cost less than $25,000.
Priority is given to seniors 62 years and older.
The program will be first come, first served determined by a completed application.
Home repairs include the following:
HIGHEST PRIORITY
Roof repairs or replacement
Heating systems (non-emergency)
Plumbing (Well/Septic/Sewer/ Interior Waste and Water Lines)
Water Heater
Electrical Hazards
Windows
Entrance Doors
Municipal Code Violations (including removing garages, sheds or pools for health or safety reasons)
Remediation of Lead Based Paint
Accessibility improvements (including: ramps, stand up showers, handicapped bars, etc.)
MEDIUM PRIORITY
Exterior porches, steps, railings, and decks
Waterproofing of basements or crawl spaces
LOW PRIORITY
Exterior Walls (repair of siding)
Interior Floors, Walls, and Ceilings
Kitchens
Bathrooms
Insulation
This is not an Emergency Program
For heating emergencies (NO HEAT during extremely cold weather— November 1st to April 1st) applicants will be referred to other emergency programs.
